RAIZVANGUARDA (RV) is an international and independent cultural platform, aiming to bring people together across cultures, countries, and communities, using art as working language. RV aims to support the creation, production, and dissemination of art, becoming a platform for artists and cultural agents, promoting creative collaborations and exchange of artistic practices between organizations, practitioners, and theorists.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCY PROGRAMME: Through its Residency Programme, RV selects individuals or small groups (2-6 people) with practical, creative, and original proposals twice a year and provides them with the environment needed to bring projects to life; whether it’s starting a publication, recording an album, shooting a film, producing a dance performance, curating an exhibition, or writing a script. Through the residency program, residents are provided with the opportunity to live and work in Bordeiro, Góis (artists house and studio), developing their individual projects and immersing themselves in the region’s creative, rural and peaceful atmosphere.
ACCESS TO SPACES: We offer access to 2 large studios/exhibition spaces 40m2, 1 smaller studio space, storage room, kitchen, and toilet. In addition to the above, you’ll have access to the building’s vegetable and fruit garden where produce is shared with artists during harvest periods.

ADDITIONAL SPACES (dependent on availability): Gois Cultural Centre – 285-seat theatre space with a projector, sound system, backstage facilities and exhibition space in Gois Town Centre. We also have access to a number of other spaces in the area and we are happy to work with artists on finding alternative space to present work.
ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation and studios are located in Bordeiro, Gois. Residents also have access to outdoor space, balcony, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi connection, a bike for local travel (the residency is loc15-minute minute cycle from Gois village center), weekly cleaning service, and info-pack (sent before arrival). Participants are responsible for covering their daily expenses, including food, visa, travel costs to and from the residency and any additional materials needed to complete their work.
Please note that our studios and spaces are not currently wheelchair accessible.
PRESENTATION OF ARTISTS’ WORK: All artists staying in residence are encouraged and welcome to share the outcome of their residency through a performance, exhibition, workshop, or open rehearsal for the local audience of Gois, however, this is not compulsory. We are also happy to provide feedback on work. Additional performances or exhibitions can be arranged in the neighboring villages or the nearest city, Coimbra if sufficient notice is given. Artists should inform RV at least one month in advance to allow for preparation of these events.
